Gay boy Ryker seemingly has it all; the looks, the body, the hit one-man show, let alone the love of more than one man. Only trouble being that he cannot choose between them, prompting him to manipulate his way out of his dilemma by having his two lovers fight for his body beautiful - literally. Yet as his hunky "personal trainer" Ernesto and his artistic minded "agent" Brian enter the squared circle, just who will end up the loser when the gloves finally come off? In many ways this well-played short film from writer, producer and co-star Hunter Lee Hughes reminds me of a section from Bruce Lee's conceptual work The Silent Flute, given it is all about a narcissistic youth who has the world at his feet, including in this instance all round gay favourite Alec Mapa as his self-appointed manservant / slave. Indeed if you're aware of that feature, then you'll probably have an idea as to how this short ends and suffice to say that neither Hughes nor actress Camille Carida, here making her directorial debut disappoint. Sure, its theatrically lit and staged as you would expect being the first cinematic project from independent theatre producers Fatelink Productions, but its backed by a seductive score that plays perfectly alongside the rock sounds of Sacha Sacket, with Carida nicely capturing the homoerotic element of the piece, in particular the lush eye-candy form of Gavyn Michaels as Ryker, before opting for the closing punch line. And as a lesson in love, it plays with many an issue, not least of which is the power of attraction itself, given you cannot help but wonder why anyone would otherwise fight over such an egoistic individual?
